Crafting an animation on Sri Lanka’s colonial history was a deeply moving journey.
Condensing over 500 years into just six minutes was a monumental task, but one we
embraced with passion by immersing in extensive research and on-site visits.

The challenge lay in selecting which events to portray. Our criteria focused on events that unfolded in and around Colombo Fort, the very site where the Lotus Tower stands today. This strategic approach ensured that our animation not only captured the broader sweep of colonial history but also resonated deeply with
Sri Lanka’s geographical and cultural heart.

Recognizing the profound influence of Sri Lanka’s colonial past on language, clothing,
lifestyle, and culture, we aimed to illuminate its significance, often overlooked in
contemporary narratives. Our animation was more than just a visual experience; it was a
testament to the resilience and cultural richness of Sri Lankan identity, inviting viewers to
embark on a journey through time and heritage.

Drawing from influences such as 90’s kids’ cartoon style and comics, we sought to infuse our animation with a nostalgic charm, resonating with viewers of all ages. Our vision was clear: to craft a unique cartoon style, one that would not only pay homage to Sri Lankan culture but also establish a distinctive artistic identity that is unique to Sri Lanka.
Crafting a video that truly encapsulates Colombo's essence was an artistic journey of depth and discovery. From the breathtaking ballet of migrating birds to the serene realms of yoga and wellness, we aimed to authentically portray the city's multifaceted charm. We made a conscious decision to include the lesser-known parks that harbor endangered species and ancient shipwrecks to add layers of history and intrigue to the viewer.

The plethora of significant religious sites serves as a testament to Sri Lanka's rich cultural heritage while the antalizing flavors of local cuisine offer an immersive experience for the senses.

Each frame meticulously paints Colombo's vibrant soul, inviting viewers to embark on a captivating journey through its landscapes and legacies.
As we stand on the shoulders of past creators, we hope this artwork will inspire those with
the seed of creation within them. Moreover, we invite them to appreciate the mesmerizing
beauty of our blessed country, Sri Lanka.
