The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Sri Lanka is all set to host the inaugural "Chitralekha" India-Alumni Art Exhibition at the University of Visual and Performing Arts in Colombo. The 3-day exhibition that will be held at the J.D. Perera Art Gallery, coincides with the Year of India Alumni, designated by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations. It further commemorates significant milestones, including the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations and the 25th anniversary of the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre.

In collaboration with the National Gallery of Arts, "Chitralekha" will showcase the exceptional works of Sri Lankan artists who studied in India including renowned names like Ananda Samarakoon and Somabandu Vidyapathi among others. This exhibition underlines the enduring friendship between India and Sri Lanka and the universal appeal of art, transcending borders. Over the last five decades, 25 contemporary Sri Lankan artists have pursued their studies at various Indian universities through scholarship programs.
